The Sicily Open Lab (S.O.L.) project—promoted by SO.GE.PA.T. S.r.l. as the lead partner, with SmartME.IO S.r.l. serving as the technology partner—is part of the "Open Innovation Sicilia" public call (Action 1.1.3 of the PR FESR Sicilia 2021–2027 program). It features a 12-month acceleration program designed for at least 10 innovative enterprises, with a specific focus on the "Smart Cities & Communities" sector. The program offers mentoring, specialized training, business development support, prototyping, experimentation, and technological validation, as well as networking opportunities and access to the market.
The project also represents a compelling opportunity for the university ecosystem—specifically for students, graduates, PhD candidates, researchers, and spin-offs—whether they have already established an innovative enterprise or are simply interested in learning about the opportunities the program provides.
