Regulation for linguistic proficiency

Regulations for the acquisition of linguistic proficiency

Article 1: General Requirement

1. The acquisition of University Educational Credits (CFU) for the English language is subject to demonstration of language proficiency at the European standard level required by the Study Plan.

2. Students can achieve language proficiency through two main pathways: Path 1 (recognition of external certifications) or Path 2 (use of the UnimeStone platform).

Article 2: Path 1 - Recognition through Certifications

1. Language proficiency can be demonstrated through possession of certifications at a level equal to or higher than that required by the degree program (e.g., B1, B2, C1).

2. These certifications must be issued by a certifying body recognized by the Ministry of University and Research (MUR).

3. The certifications must be sent by email to `protocollo@unime.it` to Unità Operativa 7 IngMift.

4. Unità Operativa 7 IngMift will forward the documentation to the Degree Program Coordinator for evaluation by the Degree Program Council.

Article 3: Path 2 - Acquisition via the UnimeStone Platform

1. Access and Goal: The student must log in to the UnimeStone platform using their institutional credentials and set the "Idoneità" goal.

2. Placement Test: Upon first accessing the platform, the student must take the Placement Test (choosing British or American English).

Warning: The Placement Test CANNOT be taken more than once. If it was taken in a previous degree program, the score already obtained will be confirmed.

3. Procedure based on Score:

Sufficient Score (see table below): If the score achieved in the Placement Test is equal to or higher than the threshold established for the target level, the student can directly book the assessment test.

Insufficient Score (see table below): If the score is lower than the threshold, the student must continue studying the language on the platform (Rosetta Stone) until the required hours for the degree program are COMPLETED.

4. Verification and Recognition: The hours of study completed on the platform are accounted for and verified by the Department staff.

5. Final Test: In both cases (completed study or passing score), the student must book and pass the final test taken at the Department.

6. Accreditation: The Department staff verifies the test results and initiates the administrative process for credit recognition. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive credit without the need to submit further requests.
